wormhole coasters
I came across these really cool moulds a few months ago and managed to make some of these up for the last makers’ market I did. They got a lot of interest and hopefully they will in my shop too.
There are two patterns - one I call a wormhole, it’s the one with the gridlines, and one I call the Time Tunnel because it makes me think of the TV show so the aqua Time Tunnel is top left of the first pic.
The Black Hole is the black wormhole with white lines.
In future I will do one that’s black and green as a nod to the opening sequence of the Disney film The Black Hole.
These coasters glow, of course. The grids and lateral lines in both black and ivory coasters are hand painted by me. In the ivory coasters I use an acrylic paint as the entire coaster glows a gorgeous aqua blue and the black is picked out nicely.
With the black coasters I use luminous paint with a white undercoat to pick out the lines.
Do please bear in mind that colours that are not yellow aqua or green don’t glow as brightly by their nature and in my pictures the rainbow coasters have had a good dose of UV light to get a really good glow.
I’m sure you won’t be disappointed though.
One other thing about these, I just must say is they are the first things I’ve made that I did a flood pour on to get a nice even surface and I’m really pleased at how they’ve turned out. Some of them you can just pick out the indents of the grid and others look like you’re liking at a tiled wall. Each is the same yet individual.
They are 120mm in diameter.
